There's Now Many Excellent Electric Vehicles Available
One of the most notable occurrences in the automotive industry over the last 15 years has been the growing popularity of electric vehicles or EVs. As evidence of the EV's growth, a November 2020 projection by global consulting firm Frost & Sullivan says US electric vehicle sales will rise to 6.9 million units by 2025. One factor driving EV sales is that more companies are making an increasingly more comprehensive electric vehicle lineup than ever before. Today, you can purchase an EV in almost any form, including SUVs, light trucks, sedans, and performance coupes. Because of their instantly available torque, even entry-level electric vehicles like the Tesla Model 3 can deliver 0 to 60 mph times of 3.1 seconds or less. The performance of some EVs also rivals that of a few high-level sports cars. Plus, the newly developed battery packs in electric vehicles often deliver mileage ranges once found only in conventionally-powered vehicles. Given these factors, it's easy to see that there's now many excellent electric vehicles available.
1 - The 2021 Chevy Bolt
Chevy is no stranger to electric vehicle development, and its 2021 Bolt is a compact EV priced right for its market at a relatively affordable $37,495. Some favorable attributes of the Bolt, which is due for a 2022 redesign, include instant acceleration, 266 pound-feet of torque delivered to its front wheels, a competitive driving range, at an EPA estimated 259 miles on a full charge. It has a notably spacious interior and plenty of cargo space, especially for a compact car. With the Bolt's fast-charging capability, you can also replenish up to 100 miles of range on just a 30-minute charge. And don't forget about the federal tax credits available. Lastly, this Chevy offers plenty of up-level equipment and accessories if you're so inclined.
2 - The 2021 Tesla Model 3
The Model 3 is Tesla's entry-level electric sedan, coming in at a price of $38,990 for the Standard Range Plus trim and its 263 miles of EPA-estimated driving range. A lot of equipment is included at the Plus trim level, too, such as heated seats, power front seats, driver memory seats, two wireless smartphone charging pads in the front center console and an excellent navigation system. Like most EVs, the Tesla Model 3 is fast. A Long Range model in rear-wheel-drive is capable of 5.1-second 0 to 60 mph times, and a Model 3 Performance can turn in a scorching 3.1-second time going from 0 to 60 mph. The driving range is also impressive for the Long Range model, at 353 miles. Tesla's hot-rod Performance model delivers 315 miles worth of mileage from its battery pack. Given these standard features, it's no wonder Tesla's Model 3s are so popular.
3 - The 2021 Jaguar I-Pace
For those intent on purchasing or leasing an upscale electric SUV, the EV market now offers plenty of examples at various price points. For example, the 2021 Jaguar I-Pace, which starts at $69,850, is highly capable off the road as well as a star out on the track because of its instant acceleration. Features include all-wheel drive, an adaptive air suspension system, a high-tech dual-screen infotainment system, abundant cargo space, a sumptuous, classy interior and two rows of adult-sized seating. All Jaguar I-Pace models are well-equipped, which should come as no surprise given the marque. Many advanced safety systems also keep I-Pace occupants swaddled in security, and the panoramic sunroof lets everyone enjoy the sky.
